Satchels and Saddlebags (admin, please)

((Heh, sorry this took so long for me to post. I had church, and then lunch, and...stuff. But here it is! And again, past tense, please! ))

  When they called it the Big House, they really meant the Big House. It was seriously huge.
  Upon seeing it, four stories high with crisp blue paint and white trim, it made Daquiri think of what the Grand Hotel in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan might look like if it were in the style of a luxury ski resort--sort of rustic, but one heck of a sight to behold.
  As she followed Syl to its front porch, which actually wasn't that far away from the Infirmary, she took in the sights around her. Kids around her age, some older, some younger, were absolutely everywhere. Many of them wore the Camp Half-Blood shirts she'd seen Andrew in, but there were some who were wearing more regular clothes. She even spied someone wearing...was that armor? Its bronze sheen reminded her of what the Ancient Greeks used to wear to battle. Which, upon further thought, made sense since everything around her seemed to be styled in the fashion of Ancient Greece.
  There was what looked to be an amphitheatre with stone bleachers encircling it, a fighting arena, a shaking rock wall (did the stuff pouring out of it look like lava?)--even the sand pits with volleyball nets set up in them looked Greek, with supports made of stone rather than steel and shimmering nets.
  What really caught Daquiri's attention, though, were the cabins. There were 12 of them in the shape of a U, with many more scattered behind them. They were all different, but almost all of them had huge white pillars in the front, like the Colosseum in Greece. Elegant cobblestone paths ran all the way through the camp, connecting all the different sites. Overall, it was amazing to look at.
  "You guys really know how to go all out," Daquiri commented, glancing over at Syl.

Syl shrugged. "I guess so." She didn't say more, because she didn't know what to say and didn't want to sound over-prideful.
Once they reached at the steps of the Big House, Syl exhaled.
"Come on."

Daquiri stayed silent as she followed Syl up the steps, content to concentrate on the situation at hand. She noted that Syl wasn't really the talking type--which was perfectly fine with her. People who talked incessantly had always irritated her. Especially smart-Alecs.
Those people always seemed to love the sound of their own voice, and they thought they knew more than everyone. They were more annoying than vampire girls trying to make out with her jugular vein--and that was saying a lot.
Trying to shake off the memories, Daquiri straightened her posture and turned her thoughts back to what mattered: getting her satchel back. Meeting this Chiron guy was all well and good, but until she was sure her belongings were safe, nothing else really mattered to her.

Syl opened the door slowly, and for the first time, wondered what Daquiri's godly parent was.
She was beautiful, though she would probably not admit it. It could have been Aphrodite. But her personality was unlike the most.
Probably one of the twelve olympians. She was strong, obviously, mentally and physically. If she'd heard any rumors right, then the monsters that were following her... Syl might've suspected Athena.
"Hello?" She called.

Jay walked out of the shadows, literally. He had shadow traveled here, looking for something to do. Especially now that Estelle was into one of her projects again. Kinks of dating a genius, he guessed. His half- curly dark hair was a bit messy as usual. 'Hey,' he said, running into Syl and a girl he didn't know. He nodded greeting to her.

  Daquiri wasn't sure how to prepare herself for who--or what,  even--was going to come through the large door currently in front of them. The name Chiron felt familiar, but she couldn't quite place it.
  Daquiri had always used reading as a way to escape her own world into that of fantasy and characters with their own problems. She liked to read about people with bigger issues than hers; it made her feel less alone. Mythology had always been one of her favorite genres, especially Greek. Something about the myths and stories seemed to speak to her; everything about it always seemed so vivid and real.
  However, now that she was in the middle of a Greek-obsessed campsite, it was making her rather...uneasy. The way that everyone claimed they were children of the gods, or half-bloods, as they seemed to call it, and that she was one, was all starting to kind of...make sense. And the fat truth was, it scared her.
  But that was one thing she had mastered over the years: keeping her true feelings hidden.
  Rolling her shoulders back, she kept her head held high to keep all the doubts back. But then her composure nearly jumped right back out of her when out of no where, a new voice said 'Hey.' She whipped around and it took all of her willpower not to yelp in surprise.
  Almost directly behind her was a boy that looked maybe a little older than her. He had dark, messy hair, dark eyes, and a silver skull ring on his hand to complete the look.
  Lovely.
  It wasn't just his appearance that made her want to shiver, though. Something in his aura felt...off. Like he wasn't like most of the kids here. And besides that, it had felt like he had just appeared behind her. There weren't many people who could sneak up on her.
  She eyed the boy warily. "Hi," she replied carefully.

Syl turned around to see the son of Hades. "Uh... Hi, Jay." She greeted. "Why'd you come here?"

((*Sigh* If only Jay were ON... *headdesk* Lol, what was with the cheesecake thing anyway?))

Jay shrugged. 'Estelle's in that kind of state where super genii go into sometimes,' he said with a sigh. Then he smiled- a small dimple on his cheek appeared- and gestured to the girl besides Syl. 'Who're you?'

Syl opened her mouth to answer, but decided that Daquiri should be the one introducing herself.

  Looking over her shoulder impatiently,  Daquiri gave a barely audible sigh. "My name is Daquiri." Turning to Syl, she nodded towards the door. "Can we go now?"

((I assumed you needed someone to RP him due to no one posting as him. Sorry xD))

Chiron wheeled himself to the doorway; he was in his wheelchair, figuring the child he would be meeting had seen enough to be freaked out about already. Best not to add to that yet. He cleared his throat, "Welcome to Camp Half-Blood, Daquiri." He straightened up, waiting for the usual string of questions that frequently came from new arrivals.

Syl felt like she needed to speak up, but wasn't sure how.

Turning completely around, Daquiri found herself facing a man who could only be Chiron. His appearance placed him as being older than she had expected, but the twinkle in his eyes told her he was anything but an old decrepit man. She had to bite her lip to keep from saying what she was thinking: that from all she'd heard about him, she'd been expecting something... well, more.
From the look on his face, he expected her to ask him the millions of questions that new kids probably usually asked him. However, Daquiri only had one question she really wanted to know the answer to.
"Do you know where my satchel is?"

Chiron nodded, "Yes, follow me." He wheeled his chair around and into the Big House and continued into his office. On the desk were his computer and record player, from which Italian opera music was playing. An old television set was against the wall, and on top of it sat the videocassette of the orientation film. In the corner sat the satchel - lightly beaten from combat. He picked it up and handed to Daquiri, "Here you are."

Daquiri almost gagged when she walked into Chiron's office and her ears were attacked by Italian singers wailing their lungs out. It sounded like a half-dead walrus was being forced to play a tuba while climbing a mountain. Opera music? Yeah, not really her thing.
  However, when she caught sight of the worn leather of her bag in the man's hands, she decided she didn't mind the music so much. She could've been duct-taped to a chair in a claustrophobic room being forced to listen to opera music for hours on end and she wouldn't have complained--as long as she had her satchel slung over her shoulder, she could take on anything. She was so relieved, she wanted to cry.
  Instead, she power-walked to the corner with her satchel, plunked herself down on the floor, and rifled through the bag to make sure everything was there.
  MP3 player? Check.
  Five different shades of lip gloss? Accounted for.
  Wallet? Still practically empty.
  Book? She'd probably have a library fine by now.
  However, out of all the belongings that were most important to her, her journal was by far the one that mattered most. Pulling out the worn composition, she ran her fingers over the edge of the wrinkled pages. It simply looked like a beat-up school journal, but that was just the way she liked it. The more inconspicuous its appearance was, the safer her emotions were from prying eyes.
  Heaving a deep sigh, she returned the journal to her bag and stood up, finally facing the rest of the room. Meeting Chiron's eyes--she'd never thought she'd seen such a look of wisdom contained in such a small place--she set her jaw.
  "So," she announced, "where do I leave?"
