Jirkar, just Jirkar

Post  Jirkar on Mon Jan 20, 2014 1:31 am

Name: Jirkar (surname unknown)
Age: 14
God Parent: Hephaestus
Mortal Family: Unknown
Years in Camp:<1
Brief History:
Jirkar has been told that he was orphaned by his mother on the night of July 8th, 1997. It was apparently a classic "drop the baby off at the orphanage's doorstep" kind of night: Rain, Thunder, a child's whimpering and a nun that was filing some paperwork late that evening. When the nun found him the only thing that she found odd about the child was that he seemed to have been born without a leg. A birth defect perhaps? She couldn't know, so she brought him into the orphanage, dried the child, clothed him, and fed him.
Jirkar grew almost like any child in the orphanage, besides the leg of course. He was confined to a wheel chair and never really attempted to learn how to walk, or hop, for that matter. The sudden stop of growth in his left leg just below the knee, lightly depressed him as such a handicap seemed to hold him back from making many friends at the orphanage. He wasn't exactly an ugly kid, or unmannerly at that, he just couldn't run on the playground, or slide down slides, or play kick the can or capture the flag. Instead, he was usually stuck inside the orphanage and left to his studies.
By age five, he was addicted to LEGO toys. He'd build buildings and other little "contraptions" that he'd use to sort different colored marbles. He was a passionate little mechanic and enjoyed engineering with a passion. While the children usually played outside, he'd be fixing the orphanages utilities and appliances. The nuns gawked at his learning ability. One would rarely have to show him a formula, or directions more than once. He'd be the nuns little handy man. However, the nuns would have to actually read the directions to him, as Jirkar had a peculiar case of dyslexia.
By age ten, as he continued to attend school, he'd always would be the one excelling at building little projects that the elementary teacher would give to the class. Although the class looked up to him in such fields, they looked down on him for his disability. This depressed Jirkar and he dreamed of having a prosthetic leg, however, the orphanage only had so much money, and Jirkar would sadly have to wait for his beloved prosthetic. So he gave up on the idea after a few years.
Life began to turn odd starting when he turned twelve, when the orphanage was walking about town, Jirkar rolled over to a greek statue that had been erected not a year previously. On the base of the nude man, read "Hephaestus" in ancient greek. Jirkar was a bit confused, he had trouble reading English but when it came to a written language that wasn't used as a common language anymore, why could he read it so easily?
This lead to a year of studying, for days it seemed, Jirkar would be reading epics like the Iliad and the Odyssey and many more textbooks about Greek mythology. When it came to the english in the books, reading was near impossible, but when it came to the greek, it was as if he'd been reading all his life. Puzzled, he continued on his studies, and dropped the mythology for a while.
One evening, shortly after Jirkar turned fourteen, a seemingly peaceful evening, a crash echoed through the orphanage. No one awoke but Jirkar, who scooted into his wheelchair and began wheeling around, investigating. All seemed calm, until he turned a corner and saw an odd figure in the kitchen, hunched over, gnashing and gnashing it's teeth, Jirkar couldn't identify the creature until it lunged at him, and suddenly, all went dark.
Jirkar soon awoke inside a strange room. Alone. His wheelchair at his side. After some further observations Jirkar noticed that he was in some kind of cabin. Confused, disoriented, and with a aching head, he managed to get into his wheelchair, and go to the door of the cabin. When he opened it, there was a sight that would change Jirkar's life forever. He saw a camp, with children of course. Strange creatures like the ones he had read in mythology books roamed the grounds. children shot archery and sparred. There was a sign that Jirkar could barely make out. Translating from greek, it read, "Camp Half-Blood".   (Note: it is unknown as to how Jirkar was transported to camp half blood)
Physical Appearance: Jirkar has a lean upper body, despite being confined to a wheel chair. He has olive skin and dark brown, straight hair that he often spikes at the front. He doesn't have any piercings or tattoos. If he is stood up on one leg, he usually towers above everyone else at 6'5". He has large hands and young face, usually unkempt with a bit of shadow on his cheeks. His eyes are typically green but usually can change to blue depending on what color shirt he's wearing. His lower body is slender due to his handicap. He also has a 3" scar on the back of his head where hair doesn't grow. If he becomes self concious about it he usually will let hair grow over it in order to hide it. Also, of course, his left leg is missing from the knee down.
Personality:
Jirkar's personality is a pretty humble one. Although inside he can be slightly egotistical he usually holds such narcissistic thoughts to himself. He's very passionate about mechanics, and engineering and is somewhat of a steampunk kind of guy. He likes things of mechanical antiquity like mechanical watches and often in his leisure builds little watches when he is bored.
He's not exactly the flirtatious type but when he gets close to someone he definitely will let his colors show. He also doesn't believe he is good at making friends simply because he is too afraid that he'll be impolite or rude. However when approached Jirkar is typically a real friendly guy and is usually as polite as can be. He is totally against any sort of domestic abuse. Also, when it comes to relationships he doesn't believe that the man absolutely needs to be the dominant figure, that is to say, he doesn't have a problem with ladies who aren't afraid to take charge.
Jirkar despite his studies of mythology, doesn't exactly have a clue as to what is really going on, however, he is eager to learn. Jirkar loves to learn new things, and will jump at any chance of learning a new skill or craft that he finds interesting.
Also, Jirkar intends on building a prosthetic leg for himself but hasn't begun to sketch blueprints yet.
Fatal Flaw: Because Jirkar can be a bit worried as to how he can handle and interact in situations, in it's extremity it can cause him to freeze up. This would give an prevalent danger a golden time to strike him down. Jirkar hardly has any control over this, and it's really a confidence issue for him.
Talents: Building watches, fixing things, building machines
Weapons: TBA
Other: None
