Here is the character applications sheet.
Post your character's application in a new topic, headed by your character's name

Please follow directions and hit every category on our sheet.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For all the descriptions, please use third person narration.

Name: First and Last Name

Age: Newly claimed must be between 11 and 14.

God Parent: No, you can't be a Titan's kid. So don't ask. Big Three kids are limited.

Mortal Family: First and Last Names. Even if they're dead, they were alive at some point. Include them.

Years in Camp: New characters will not be allowed to have been at camp for five or more years.

History: Your life up until this point in the roleplay. This includes your former home life, major events, and if applicable, what you've done in camp up until now. At least 8 sentences. Be sure to include details!

Physical Appearance: At least 4 sentences. Be sure to include details!

Personality: At least 4 sentences. Be sure to include details! Remember, you're describing a person. Try and tell how your character reacts to people and situations. This does not include facts like how your character likes pizza.

Fatal Flaw: It's a single personality shortcoming. Don't just tell what it is, but describe it more. Basically, tell how it could ruin your character. This means, for those who won't read further down, it must be related to your character's personality (Not extreme likes, dislikes, or phobias) and you need to write more than 'it could be bad'.
There is a help section on this in the next post if you're still stuck.

Talents: Anything of note that your character is good at, including hobbies. To be considered a talent, it needs to be above the normal level of skill.

Weapons: Magic weapons also must be approved by the staff, so keep that in mind. (Your weapon cannot be made out of Stygian Iron or Imperial Gold. And silver weapons are only for huntresses.)

Other: Anything else about your character of note. If it's that important to you, this is where you put that your character likes pizza.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You must post your application in a new topic. Not here.

New Character Template Empty Fatal Flaw Advice

Post  GeneralArin Fri Dec 14, 2012 10:05 pm

I've noticed a lot of character pages have trouble with the Fatal Flaw section.
...and we also have a bunch of overly-loyal kids. Not that that's bad- I mean, we are a camp for future heroes... but it's rather unrealistic and there's plenty of other normal side effects for personalities to have.

The Fatal flaw is not only the shortcoming, but the potential consequences that will result. That's what makes the flaw "Fatal".

For example, for my character Jake, he's incredibly stubborn. Yah, that's a flaw. Many people are stubborn. But Jake, he won't back down from something easily after he put his mind to it. This means that if he's promised to protect someone, he's going to do it in any way even literally taking a bullet for them. To a moderately lesser extreme, he also compulsively works on his projects, going days without eating or sleeping... and to Wes's distaste- showering.

So if you're having trouble coming up with one in the first place, take your character's personality. Find the biggest flaw they have. (And you should have one...) If you can't find it, take their personality and stretch it to its logical extreme.

Take someone who is determined and committed. Stretch it and soon they become unable to move on, adjust to changes,  or simply too stubborn like Jake up there.

Take someone who is bold and self-confident. Stretch it and it becomes hubris: extreme pride. That usually leads to calling out the gods... and we all know that only Percy can get away with that.

Or on the other hand, take someone who's reserved or easy-going. Stretch that and you find someone who'd probably *miss* the call to action.

So think about it, and try and get something related to your personality.

[[...Though it's not really a *fatal* flaw, adding a crippling fear to your character would also make some more interesting to roleplay. Something like Indiana Jones and snakes. There's quite a few to work with, some gods supposedly have those worked in already. For the most part, you wouldn't have to worry about it until a quest...]]

Here's a link to my own Character application for an example. I've made sure to keep it edited and updated to the site's and my own standards.

While your character might be acceptably less developed than Jake, (A character I've had for *years*) You still can put some good details into it and make a well-done application.

Okay guys, I'm pretty sure we've said this on multiple occasions, but since no one reads the rules and everyone reads applications, I'm posting an official decree of this under the application topic.

There really is no reason for you to post in other people's application, unless your username reads 'Wes,' 'Kristina,' or 'GeneralArin.' We have a chatbox and a private messaging system, if you want to talk to the new people or offer them suggestions, do it without spamming their application, or anywhere else we can see it.

That is all, thank you.

This needs to be posted in a seperate topic. So what you need to do is copy-paste your entry, return to the "New Applications" section, and at the top corner of the entries, click the "New Topic" Button.

This will open you into a post topic form that's very similar to the one you did for the reply. Just paste your application into the main box and title it with your character's name.

The page before this with all of the applications is where you post it. Just click the "New Topic" button in the corner of the page and fill out the application template on this page.

Please, once you get your character approved, go here and leave a post with your character's name and godly parent. If not, your character's name won't be on the Active Camper List.
