Lily sat on the pier, as her legs dangled over and grazed the surface of the water. She didn't kick. She didn't look around. She looked straight towards the other side.
To some people, it might have looked as if Lily was "enjoying the sight" or "sulking in the corner quietly with her music."
Okay. Maybe the latter was somewhat correct. The blonde fingered her iPod shuffle absently, looking out at the sea blankly.
Maybe, she thought, it was better to be away from it all.
Be away from everything. Away from the mortal world. Away from the mythological. Just floating in limbo, unaware and unwilling.
Things seemed familiar now. Familiar, but not always welcoming.
Wake up. Nibble at breakfast. Come over the lake. Maybe go over to the archery range, or the stables if she felt like it.
Creep back into the cabin, and sleep. Over and over again.
It wasn't grief. It wasn't sadness. It wasn't feeling lonely, it wasn't feeling "emo."
It was just the void. The nothingness, the lack of will. Nothing was black and white. But it wasn't blindingly colorful either. Just muted. Everything was muted.
And maybe Lily liked it that way.

Laera took the strand of blonde hair that had fallen in her face and carefully moved it off to the side, combing with her fingers to put it back in place. She wasn't really going anywhere important; it wasn't like she was meeting some cute guy (although she definitely wish she was--camp life would suck so much less if she could find a decent boyfriend around here), but of course, as a smart, sophisticated girl like her would know, it was important to always be presentable.
She was avoiding the pegasus stables, where she was "supposed" to be taking riding lessons, according to those stupid camp schedules. But she wasn't going anywhere near there. Never. So she figured she could lounge around at the lake, as long as there weren't too many nobodies crowding the place.
She approached the lake, and saw a girl sitting at the pier. She brightened a little, recognizing it as one of her friends from the  Aphrodite cabin. That reminded her, she had heard a piece of gossip the other day that she was dying to talk to her about.
She approached, saying, "Hey! Jenna! Oh my god, you wouldn't believe--" She stopped short as she stood beside the girl, looking down at her and realizing that it was not actually Jenna. "Oh." There was an awkward, disgruntled pause. "You're not... Jenna." Well, great. She scowled, crossing her arms, her skin prickling in angry embarrassment for having made such a dumb mistake. She wasn't sure what to do now--pretend it hadn't happened and walk away? Her pride refused to let her do it--she could try to forget she had flubbed up, but this girl, whoever she was, had seen it.  And she didn't even know where she'd go if she couldn't hang out here. She was pretty sure that most of the Aphrodite cabin was in archery class or something at the moment, with Chiron, so she couldn't very well visit them, as much as she wanted to... There were bound to be a bunch of them skipping, if she wanted to walk around and try to find them...? Her eyes darted back along the pier, and her foot almost started to move to take the first step, but she instantly stopped herself. She huffed. "Who are you?" she said, a demanding note in her tone. Might as well get that sorted out.

Lily's toes grazed the water, as she felt the water creep up her feet, just enough to make them feel wet.
Itw as strange. Water could fix her scrapes and bruises, but not much of her mind. If anything, it probably helped her sanity a lot less, creating a world where she could run away to.
Running away. Always running, even if there weren't any more hiding places, nooks and crannies where she could catch a breath. 5 years and counting of still locked up in camp, but all Lily felt was the shortness of her breath.
She glanced back at her iPod, ready to turn the music up even further. Let the lyrics wash over and soothe her just like the waves.
That, was when she saw the girl approaching, through the corner of her eye.
Lily turned the music down, letting it play gently in the background before slipping the small silver object back into her pocket. She'd listen, then decide whether to talk or not. It seemed nowadays as if even talking was too tiring.
"Hey! Jenna! Oh my god, you wouldn't believe--"
Lily rolled her eyes in annoyance, letting her curls hide her face. Jenna. Was it just her, or was it that everyone failed to tell anyone apart, as long as they had long blond hair? Nevermind the fact that she didn't enjoy Jenna's presence in the slightest, it was just plain tiring and embarrassing to tell people that she wasn't whoever-the-heck-it-was.
"You're not... Jenna."
Well yes. Obviously she wasn't. Jenna was attractive in a petite way. Lily was just...Lily.
She was being overdramatic. Extremely melodramatic, and overall intolerable. She doubted that the girl would care long enough to stay, though.
"Who are you?"
Bossy, wasn't she? Lily was starting to despise the girl more and more. She was never a part of the "popular" ones, nor did she have enough patience or kindness to be a part of them. Apparently being honest was a very close synonym of being rude.
She debated whether or not to reply for a moment, until her more courteous side won her over. It probably was a bad move to make any more enemies than she already had. She took one earphone out of her ear and turned to face the girl.
"Lily. Cabin 3."
She almost added a snarky Yeah, you've probably never seen me before. but held it back, as she expectantly waited for a response.

The girl took out one of her earbuds and introduced herself as Lily, from Cabin 3. Cabin 3? Which one was that, then? Definitely one of the Olympian cabins. Laera felt a sting of jealousy. "Hmmh. Well, I'm Laera." She refrained from mentioning her cabin number, or her dad. "Laera Alvin."
She stood there for another awkward second, not sure what to do. "Well," she muttered. "Nice to meet you." Not really. "Bye then."
She turned to leave, but stopped short when she saw the familiar face approaching. Oh, great. Fantastic. Just the person I don't really want to see.

Charlie had been on her way from the archery range when she saw two blondes, both of which she could recognize relatively well.
Unlike most of the combat oriented activities in camp, Charlie didn't really mind archery as a whole, mostly due to the fact that most of the camp's activities were difficult for her. considering her stature.

Most of the time she had to make due with her wits and using her small size to her own advantage. Still she had a tendency to avoid most of the more combat oriented activities such as capture the flag or sparing.. The fact that most people expected the Aphrodite cabin to slack in those activities, mostly due to thez way other cabins viewed her own, only worked to the short blonde's advantage.

The problem was her crossbow needed to be repaired at the moment, and so she saw no reason to stay at the range.. Considering several of the Hephaestus cabin owed her favors. She'd seen Lily, who she had talked to on occasion at the lake

This wasn't unusual however the fact that the other blonde was somebody she had interacted with more recently. Laera talking to Lily was definitely a strange event in the daughter of Aphrodite's opinion, considering that the two didn't associate usually. She had to wait for her crossbow to get fixed anyway, considering the Hephaestus kids had been working on some bog project at the forge anyways. Of course then Laera seemed to decide to leave and turned around.

"Making new friends Alvin?" She asked, raising an eyebrow at the other girl's expression upon seeing her.

Lily turned back away, and watched from the corner of her eye as the girl processed the information.
"Hmmh. Well, I'm Laera. Laera Alvin."
The name was foreign to her. Once upon a time, she'd known the names of most of the campers. She had forgotten to keep up with maintaining friendships over the past few months. She didn't have a reason why. It was probably just being lazy. Or overly moody, the back of her mind reminded her harshly.
She was either very popular or quite reclusive. Popular enough to expect Lily to know who she was. Or reclusive enough to not tell her name. Was she from one of the smaller cabins?
"Well, nice to meet you...Bye then."
Lily rolled her eyes in annoyance before she skipped her music to the next track. It was honestly a futile attempt to talk to the girl anyway. She knew, that the relationship with each other would be neutral at best.
"Bye." the blonde murmured. It was probable that the girl wouldn't have heard it.
She was about to slip the other earbud into her ear as well until she heard another person walk up.
Should she turn around? Should she just stay?
Lily doubted that whoever was approaching was looking for her. After a while, many people just...drew away from her. Or maybe it was that Lily herself had been the only one trying, and the others were simply basking in her attentiveness.
Whatever. Her mind was very lost these days.
"Making new friends Alvin?"
Hearing the voice, Lily dropped the earbud.
No matter how distracted she was, it probably wasn't polite to just...ignore one of the few people who really did like her.
A smirk crept up on her face as Lily beamed, and mouthed an inaudible "Morning, Charlie."

((Yep sorry for being late....what can I say, procrastination leads to forgetfulness. Also I went on a trip so by the time I remembered I may or may not have lost wifi.))

(lol its okay Lily. hope you had a nice trip!)

"What's it to you, Gavin?" Laera said irritably to the short daughter of Aphrodite.
Laera glanced down at the girl, Lily, when she greeted the new addition to their little party. Apparently she knew Charlie Gavin. And was okay with her. Hmmph. She personally didn't understand how that was possible. Then again, Laera knew Charlie from school, many years ago. She was uncomfortable with the familiar face here in camp. And, of course, that was only a tiny part of it. Because, if that wasn't enough, she got kicked in the shins. Twice. Within five minutes. By this little monster of a midget. Yeah. She wasn't her biggest fan.
It was still hard to believe that this girl was a year older, considering her height and general appearance made Charlie look a couple of years younger. Either way, Laera kept herself from inching out of kicking distance, like her instincts urged her to. It wasn't like she had anywhere she could escape to, really, considering she was at the end of the dock. Fan-tastic.
