Ancient Revenge (Destiny)

Dominic wasn't too fond of the Canoe Lake. Not that there was anything wrong with canoeing or any of the activities that took place there but because of the usual greeting that Dominic received when he went there.
'Yooooohooo!' One of a large group of water naiads called to him from the waters of the canoe. They were dressed in casual clothes but their skin was a cold blue and white.
He cursed as they blew kisses at him and wolf whistled.
'Dominic! Over here!' One of them squealed.
'Come play with us sunny boy!'
'Play us a song Dominic!'
'We love you Dominic!'
'Whens your album coming out?'
'Its true what they say. The sons of Apollo are hot!'
'I miss getting beaten up by the Ares cabin already.' Dominic cursed as they approached the side of the lake.

Destiny couldn't help but burst into laughter.
"Of all the battles we've gone through, I think it'd be harder to fight them off of you! They must really like you!"
Destiny grinned and wrapped her arm around Dominic's and said, "Besides, you are hot!"

'Oh no he's taken!' One of the Naiads cried out as they watched Destiny embrace him. The group began exchanging glances and swimming in circles in the middle of the lake.
'Is that his girlfriend?'
'I heard from Marina shes the girl who stole his heart. Her names Destiny.'
'You lucky girl Destiny!'
'You take care of him or they'll be trouble'
'Go easy on him girl. He's fragile' They called out causing Dominic to turn a shade of red that had outmatched any blush so far.
'Jerry can you please tell me what we're doing here so we can get to risking our lives and doing stupid things.' Dominic mumbled as he burned up. His eyes skirted left and right to avoid the stares from the young naiads.
Jerry seemed thoroughly entertained and was smiling with amusement at Dominic. He had never seen his brother so embarrassed.

Destiny smiled and waved to the water-dwellers before turning to Dominic and his brother.
"Yes, Jerry, do tell us what the plan for getting us almost killed is! It should be entertaining for a good while!"
She smiled and ran a black fingernail over Dominic's blush.

'You are really asking for trouble' Dominic whispered to Destiny.
Jerry walked over to the canoe lake and made a motioning gesture to one of the water Naiads. A small girl with blue hair wearing a large green shirt waded over to the shore. Around her neck was a necklace of seashells.
'Hey Marina one of them.' Dominic said as he walked to the shore and knelt down before the girl, 'Are you her sister? Aqua?'
The girl nodded timidly.
'Wheres your sister Aqua?' Dominic asked. His concern began to grow. Marina was one of the few Naiads that didn't go nuts whenever he showed up. The only interest she had had with him was being a jamming partner. Secretly the water spirit loved to beat box.
'Marina said she heard a voice calling to her.' Aqua whispered before pointing further down the lake, 'She followed the voice upstream and hasn't come back since. When we went to go check on her we found her worshiping something...strange.'

Destiny stared at the girl who showed up. She looked from the girl to Dominic.
"Strange voice, worshipping, disappearance. Looks like we've got a crazy, over-powered thing on our hands, eh?" She looked back at the girl, "What was it? The thing she was worshipping?"

'Well it sort of looked like a pearl' Aqua said uneasily, 'Which is weird because we're lake spirits, not ocean spirits. Things like that shouldn't wash up here.'
'Sounds like we have an unexpected visitor.' Dominic said before scratching his chin, 'You best take us to Marina. Any way you can help us breathe underwater?'
'We should be able to make an air bubble for you' Aqua replied with a nod before hesitating, 'But if our concentration breaks...'
'We'll drown and die horribly. Good to know.' Dominic said before turning to Destiny, 'Shall we?'

Destiny's eyebrows furrowed.
"They say girls like jewels, but worshiping it is a little much.."
She stood up and smiled at Dominic, "We have a chance of dying? Sure, why not?"

'That's the spirit. Lets go get killed.' Dominic spoke before the two of them waded into the water. Aqua whistled to a few of her friends to come over and help. Two Naiads swam over to them; a small girl with pigtails and braces and an older girl with soggy ribbons in her hair. Both seemed eager to help when they saw Dominic.
'Huge fan.' The older girl whispered as the three of them circled Destiny and Dominic.
'That's...er...nice.' Dominic stuttered before gasping as the water erupted around them and pulled them under the lakes surface.
The two of them were encased in two large bubbles that enveloped the top half of their bodies. Their legs dangled out the bottom, kicking at underwater plants.

Destiny looked at Dominic and poked him in the ribs, saying with a mimicking voice, "I'm a big fan, Dominic! Son of Apollo! He's SO hot! Yoo hoo! I know I live in the water, but I'd love to go on a date some time!" She rolled her eyes and smiled.

'Shut up.' Dominic huffed. His faced had turned scarlet.
Aqua and her friends swam ahead of the two of them and motioned for them to follow. They led them across the lake and further up the source until eventually they reached a large opening in the lake bed.
'Great. A cave. Just what we like.' Dominic sighed before they paddled into the cave.

Destiny couldn't help but chuckle. Then she saw a cave.
"Lovely," she muttered. Caves weren't her forte, being slightly cramped in, and the shadows loved them. They wouldn't shut up about how nice a cave is, and her head never seemed quiet while in one.

The cave they swam through was a mix of rock and mud. The whole place seemed barely kept together by the crude mix. The floor of the cave was covered with underwater plants that reached up at them like fingers.
It was dark in the cave, but as they moved further forwards the group began to become illuminated by a faint glow.
'There' Aqua spoke and pointed ahead of them.
Behind a large wall of underwater reeds lay a large glowing pearl that hovered in the center of a large clearing and swimming around it was a young girl with deep blue hair.
'Marina.' Dominic called out, hoping his voice would somehow travel through the water.
'So pretty.' Was Marina's only reply.
'Marina. Its Dominic.' He called, watching her with unease as she circled the treasure.

Destiny raised her hand to shield her eyes from the sudden light.
"What's she doing?" she asked as she looked to the girl with crazy hair.
"Is she obsessed with that thing?"

'Marina!' Dominic called out a little louder. Marina paid no attention. She just kept swimming around the pearl, staring at it with wonder and awe.
He glanced at the pearl with disgust. How could she be lured in by such a simple thing? Was it just because it was pretty? Surely Marina wasn't that shallow? Although the pearl was pretty...no in fact it was beautiful. It glowed with a light that was as radiant as the heavens. It was as if someone had taken the moon and placed it before them. No, it was better than the moon. It was pure beauty. Untamed. Raw. Eternal beauty. And he needed it. He needed it now-
'No.' Dominic cursed and shook his head of the bewitching thoughts, 'No. No. No. I am not getting hypnotized by jewelery.' he hissed before turning to face Destiny. 'We have to get Marina away from that thing, its casting some sore of allure magic.'

Destiny hardly heard, Dominic though. Her eyes were wide whilst staring at the jewel. Her mouth had opened slightly, so she looked like she was in awe.
"Dominic, look. Isn't it beautiful? It's just lovely isn't it?" She asked staring at the jewel. "We should go to it. Yeah, that's a good idea! Let's go get it!"
Destiny's mind was set on joining Marina. She looked like she was having so much fun. Plus, the pearl was very pretty. Just looking at it made her feel happy inside.

'What? No, Destiny don't look at the pearl.' Dominic said and tried to shake her by the shoulders to wake her up.
Destiny and Marina weren't the only one ensnared by the magic. Aqua and her friend had now begun to paddle up the pearl slowly. A dreamy look on their faces.
'Guys cut it out! The pearls messing with you.' Dominic called but the nymphs kept paddling. 'Di Immortalis' Dominic sighed heavily before kicking off and swimming towards the nymphs making sure not to accidentally gaze at the pearl.
The moment he got within a metre of the pearl was the moment that he realised what was truly going on. The pearl. Its powers. And the reason why it had attracted Marina in the first place.
It was a trap.
'Oh hell...' Dominic cursed as he felt a sudden rush of movement amongst the water reeds. Nestled within them was something big. Something that had used the pearl to take the attention away from itself and was now staring from the reeds with one large eye.

Destiny frowned slightly at Dominic and said, "You don't want me to be happy?" He swam off, and she shouted, "Hey! I'm talking to you!" She shook her head at the boy and looked around the cave, her eyesight drawn back to the pearl.
It was shining and beautiful. She thought she could hear it singing inside her heart.
"It's so... beautiful," she muttered and swam towards it. There was a rustle behind her, but she didn't care. The pearl was her only treasure now.
t was all she wanted.

'Guys, get out of here, there's something here with us!' Dominic yelled as loud as he could, but not one of them paid the slightest bit of attention. The pearl was all that mattered to them.
'Destiny. Please!' Dominic pleaded with Destiny as he looked at her helplessly. He hated the pearl and what it was doing to his friends. A stupid little ball of beautiful eloquence was messing with his friends brains. An evil but stunning jewel of the ocean that gleamed like the sun itself. A falling star would not have as much beauty as the-
'No!' Dominic yelled and turned from the pearl again and turned back to where the giant eye had once been, but now only reeds were before him.
He felt panic run through him. The monster was planning its attack and he had no idea where from. And then there was his friends. What if it went after them? How could he protect them?
He felt a strong surge of movement from the water and turned just in time to see a pair of huge open jaws shoot out from the plants and lunge at him and his friends that circled the pearl.
The beautiful pearl that's beauty could only be properly described by a poet. The pearl was the most beautiful of all-
'SHINE! Dominic roared as he clutched his magic buckler between his fingers and held it in front of him. The room exploded with hot fiery light as Pheaton activated its enchantment, boiling the water around Dominic and blinding everyone in the room.
A roar of outrage echoed around the room as the creature missed its target and crashed into the wall of the cave.

Destiny screamed as she felt pain explode inside of her. The shadows screamed, white light pushing them all away and into her mind like a loud siren. She felt hot, suddenly, and weak.
Trying to open her eyes, she realized they were open, and she tried to rub away the blinding glare.
"Dom? Dominic, what happened?" She asked worried. Suddenly, every curse word she could think of flooded her at that moment. That damn pearl had gotten the better of her.
"Dominic!" she yelled and flailed her arms about trying to find him.

Dominic was in pain. His shield had done a good job of breaking the other out of their trance, but it had left his hands burned. That was the problem with Pheaton; powerful destructive flames, but no control.
His shield had fallen from his hands and sunk to the bottom of the cave, illuminating everything, including their enemy.
The creature was a sea monster similar to that of a serpent. Its body was long like a snake and covered with different shades of green and blue scales. But instead of a head on the end of the snakes body, there was a torso with long clawed arms and an ugly human head.
'Why is it always snakes?' Dominic cursed. The head of the monster was covered with scales and had serpent eyes, but its mouth was like that of a crocodile. It was as if someone had tried to remake a human head with bits of old animals.
The creature reached one of its clawed hands forwards and for a moment Dominic thought it was going to pinch one of them to death, but then its hands closed around the pearl.
'Look at it.' It snarled and held the pearl up for them to see, 'Be drawn in by it. Come to me.' It growled.

Destiny's mouth dropped open as she looked at the monster.
"What. The. Hell?" She whispered. She felt anger flare through her. It seemed as if they fought the same thing over and over again. Dying with a little variety would be nice.
"Dominic, don't look at it!" She yelled.

ooc: Sorry! I've been really busy with exams and what not!

Dominic wanted to look away, but he couldn't. He was drawn in again, and this time he couldn't break himself from its spell. Not even the pain from his burnt hands could crack the hold it had over him.
'So pretty...what is it?' Dominic asked with a dreamy expression on his face.
'A tear of Aphrodite, the Goddess of Love. Whenever she cries her tears form beautiful pearls that contain a portion of her charm magic within them.' The creature spoke. Its crocodile maw twisting into a grin as he watched Dominic paddle towards him.
'Yes Son of Apollo, come closer. Let Cephisus kill you. Let me make your suffer just as your father made me suffer by condemning me to this hideous form!' The creature roared before swiping at Dominic with its free hand. Its claws outstretched ready to impale the boy.

ooc: Its no problem at all

Destiny stared at the thing. Her hand reached up and yanked off her necklace, the scythe growing in the water.
"Dominic! Stop! Don't go there!" She yelled and swam towards him. There was a blur, and she swam faster, trying to get to him.
Suddenly, she saw red.
Looking about, she saw what looked like red mist in the water. Her body felt... cold. Looking down, she could only gasp and say, "Oh."

His alarm hadn't been enough to break him from the trance. The pain in his hands hadn't been enough. His will hadn't been strong enough and neither did Destiny's shouts been enough to break the spell. But when Dominic saw the red mist that spread through the water, when he realized that his girlfriend was floating before him with a claw sticking from her belly, he snapped out of it.
His mouth hung open, but no sound escaped his lips. His hand reached out for her.
The sea monster pulled his arm back and admired the bloody claw before letting out a horrid laugh. The three water nymphs that had accompanied them were now staring at the sight in horror.
