Tour is the Word! [Cuz That Totally Rhymes] -- (You still up for this, Syl?)

((Ugh. Sorry I've been gone for so freaking long guys. I started a job like...a month ago, and it's kept me pretty dang busy. And besides that, I haven't so much felt the Daquiri vibe lately... But when my friends finally finish THEIR characters, they'll be coming on here and I'll probably be RPing a lot more :-) Yay! More fun! Anyway, I'm nomming down a giant bowl of ice cream right now, so hopefully this post will go decently.))

Daquiri's head was spinning. It had only been a few hours since she'd woken up in the Infirmary bed, but it felt like she'd just made a life-altering decision.
Maybe she had.
As far as her mind could wrap around it, she'd just agreed to stay at a camp--for the time being--that was reliving the culture of Ancient Greece. She'd refused the "orientation video" Chiron had offered her, but she'd seen enough in her short walk to the Big House to determine that these kids were completely serious about thinking they were the children of the gods. And she'd seriously just agreed to stay with them.
What. The. Heck.
It made her head hurt more than ever. She figured if she didn't lay down soon, she'd probably pass out again. But just when she was thinking a trip back to the Infirmary sounded pretty tempting, she heard footsteps behind her--and she remembered her promise to Syl to let the girl show her around the camp.

((That's a cue for you, Syl :-) You still wanna give Daquiri a tour?))

Syl blew her lips. She would've forgotten if not for walking past the Big House and seeing Daquiri there. She felt ashamed that she didn't remember... but, oh well.
"Hades." She mumbled.
When she saw Daquiri again, she smiled. "Hi! This is... the Big House, obviously. We could go to the cabins now."
She meant to sound cheerful, but her unsureness slipped through her voices. Maybe she should go to acting class or something.

Daquiri raised an eyebrow at the brunette. She twirled the end of her braid around her index finger, resisting the urge to put a hand to her head. "You know," she began slowly, "I'm not exactly getting the vibe that you're all gung-ho about this whole tour thing." Daquiri was analytical enough to usually be able to tell when someone was lying, and honing in on bad acting wasn't that much different.

((Sorry that took forever. I'm still trying to get back into writing Ri...)

((Ironic... Her fatal flaw is honesty. Well, maybe that'll pass.))

Syl shrugged. "Probably..." She said. She looked at Daquiri. "Do you know anything about the greek gods?"

((*cries* I started school today... But lawl, if honesty is her fatal flaw, that actually explains why she's a bad liar :PCuz I mean, lying is pretty useful when you're a demigod. So I think it still works ;-))

  Following Syl along the path through the camp, Daquiri absentmindedly tugged out the band in her hair as she mulled over how to answer the girl's question, running her fingers through the now-wavy reddish gold locks. She used the hair band to pull back her t-shirt so that it exposed her flat midriff, tucking the tail-end of it underneath. If she was going to be walking around in public before she could get her own clothes back, she was at least going to look as stylish as possible. Or at least, as stylish as she could be with no shoes on.
  "Believe it or not," she finally began dryly, "I've spent a lot of time in libraries. I've read a lot of books here and there, and several of them included mythology. So yeah, I know a lot of basic myths--Icarus and Daedalus, Persephone's abduction, Hestia's replacement in Olympus by Dionysus. The Twelve Olympians are familiar enough to me."

((Btw, Syl, if you have any trouble coming up with responses, you can always PM me and we can think up nice little plots together for scenes and such. You know, where the dialogue should head and what kind of character development we want to happen. I'm always full of ideas to share :-))

Syl wondered if there was a library in camp. If there was, she hadn't heard of it or she hadn't went to it. The Athena cabin didn't count as a library.
Maybe they could build one.
"That's good." She said. "I kinda had trouble learning the greek gods. The stories were fun, though."

Daquiri gave a sharp exhale through her nose that might've resembled something akin to amusement. "I probably wouldn't have used the word fun to describe all the trouble the gods caused, but...sure. Some of the stories were pretty interesting."
  In truth, Daquiri loved the Greek myths. She'd always found them fascinating, even if she'd never actually believed in them. Now...she wasn't entirely sure what to believe.
  "So...where exactly are we going?" Daquiri was scanning the area and they didn't appear to be heading in any particular direction.

Syl stopped dead and looked around. The cabins were at the corner of her eye, in the left side, but for some reason she didn't really feel... attracted to it. She shrugged.
"The cabins are there." She pointed. "The Olympians' cabins, some honorary, and a few minor gods' cabins. We build new cabins whenever we need one."

Practically tripping over her own feet as she hastily imitated Syl's abrupt stop, Daquiri squinted to her left to peruse the cabins. She noted again that the two at the base of the U shape were bigger than the rest. Now that she was closer, however, she thought she could hear a distant sound coming from the biggest. Was that...was that thunder? Zeus, she suddenly realized. And the smaller one next to it must be his Queen's, Hera. Upon closer inspection of all of them, she noted certain attributes about the first 12 cabins that corresponded with that of the 12 Olympians. "Interesting, " she muttered, more to herself than anyone else. Then she turned to Syl. "Where would I be staying?"

Syl shuffled her feet. "Well, the Hermes cabin takes all the newbies, being the cabin of the god of travellers and all." Syl explained. "Hopefully you'll get claimed soon by... your godly parent." Syl was speaking so quickly she wondered if something happened to her brain... probably not.

((That would actually be a good/cute character trait for Syl: talking really fast when she gets nervous, lol. It's so much fun to write rambling dialogues...))

  Daquiri had so far found no reason to dislike Syl--she was sweet, after all. But whether she disliked a person or not, it no longer mattered once they made any reference to her parents; she always seemed to snap. Especially when they suggested that her parents had any intention of recognizing who she was.
  Her eyes turning cold as ice, Daquiri scowled at Syl. "My parents are dead," she said flatly, her voice on edge, "so there's no way one of them could be a god. If I'm going to be staying here, for however long, I'd suggest it be in your best interest not to mention them." Her voice made it clear that the topic wasn't open for discussion--and that she had no qualms about proving just how much she didn't want to talk about it.

Syl bit her tongue. Did she say something wrong? Well, of course she did.
She was about to answer, but decided she'd make things worse. Syl kept silent.
Daquiri's scowl scared her. It's not like she'd never been on the receiving end of a glare before, but in this situation it seemed scary. Her scaredness was gone quickly, though.

Daquiri had just started to feel more relaxed, but her outburst had only fouled up her mood again. It was things like this that had always kept her from interacting with people. Somehow, something always came up that pissed her off. She thought she'd started to loosen up a little, but...she should've stuck with trusting her instincts: don't trust people and you won't get hurt.
A frown now fixed on her face, she started up walking again at a brisk pace. "Come on," she threw over her shoulder at Syl, "let's just finish this thing."

Syl felt awkward, and mostly confused.
Then she wondered. If Daquiri did get claimed, would she go against the gods? Would she become bitter?

((Haha, actually, I think that sounds like a very good way to end it. Cliffhanger-ish and whatnot xD Yeah, I suppose it was kind of a short scene, but hey--who ACTUALLY wants to give a tour of the entire camp? That would be rather boring, lol. So unless you want to do character development, I'm fine with ending the scene here :-) ON TO THE CLAIMING! ))

Haha, it WOULD mean 'very good' in Spanish, had you spelled it right ;-) It's 'muy bien.' And 'awkward turtle' is tortuga estrana. But Conrad, if you're all knowing, then tell us: what DID happen on the tour?
