Nothing more-open to everyone :)

Conrad sat at the beach, arms wrapped around his tucked up legs.  It was sunset, but instead of enjoying in the usual festivities at the dining hall. Conrad was just sitting there, quietly watching the sun disappear into the long island sound, entranced by the waves slowly moving in and out of the beach, like the pulse of a heart. He loved camp so much. It was his last safe haven, not of the body though. Of the mind. If he were to ever leave  the place forever, Conrad might just go insane. And though this was a weird time in his life when odd emotions came in and then left suddenly, he was acting extremely odd. It was rather unusual that the son of Ares would reminisce of other times and get all emotional about it. He just needed a calm place to relax without being pestered by other people. The beach was perfect for it, the calming movement of waves washing up onto the shore. The feeling of nice, cool sand. It sort of comforts him in a way, even though he didn't really know why he needed to be comforted. He just felt a weird emptiness in his heart, like something or some people that he knew, liked, or even loved had moved on. Now to replace it was a  hole in his heart that wouldn't close with average medicine. He needed something else, he needed a savior.

This was one of the rare times that Estelle let herself have a little vacation from work. As she walked up to the beach, it struck her that during all these years, she had never really looked at a sunset with nothing on her mind, not really. Once upon a time, she would have yearned for that kind of freedom. But like everything else, the wanting had slowly faded away.

However, the thought wormed back to Estelle as she watched nature do its work. She was dressed a little chilly, but she shrugged it off. Her grey eyes looked at the horizon--not scanning it like she usually did, but looking. A flicker of a soft look came across the girl's face, and she smiled in the tiniest way. The next second, the look was gone, replaced by her usual expression. She had found that she was not alone after all.

Conrad could hear someone else walking along the beach, each crunching step rhythmically keeping  up with the flow of the tide. The sky was painted in a mixture of purples and pinks and oranges. It was a beautiful sight to behold. He was never one to watch the sunset too emotional and girly for an ares , but now he was re-thinking his lifestyle a little bit. Maybe it was time to stop thinking about whatever anyone thought of him. Heck, maybe it was time to actually partake in the evening activities instead of just climbing up into a tree for the entire time while everyone else was sent to the infirmary. Well,that was actually fun to watch sometimes.

Getting a little hungry, Conrad took out a granola bar. Unwrapped the carefully packed tinfoil package, and the took a bite of the chocolatey granola goodness. He then proceeded to sigh a forlorn sigh. For no apparent reason other then dramatic effect. He was feeling weird that night.

Estelle walked nearer to the person. She could tell it was a he from the little sunlight that was left. Conrad, one of the Ares kids. Being the counselor of Athena cabin, she was not a fan of Ares, but Conrad was okay. At least he wasn’t just a mass of muscles and had a working brain in his head.

“Hey,” She offered a half-smile and sat next to him. It was a bit of an awkward gesture for her, since she didn’t really offer smiles to people on a regular basis. But hey, she was trying.
