Oh please join please.

Estelle was bored out of her mind. She sat there watching the other campers, wondering if one of them would spar with her. Maybe one of the new kids..?

She fingered her weapons and the darts with her newest concoctions. Please, she needed someone to cross swords with. Estelle couldn't believe that she, as a half blood, was actually bored.

Jake dropped the freshly repaired equipment into their bins. There wasn't many in need of repairs as of late... mostly because he kept repairing them between an anxious mind and boredom. The only time he hadn't worked on keeping the arena armaments repaired this summer was when he was away on the quest.

He noticed Estelle sitting down across the arena, and he waved.

Estelle saw Jake with the corner of her eye. She caught him wave and waved back, grinning. 'Hey Jake,' she called over.

Jake walked over to Estelle, brushing his hands off on his pants. When he approached, he threw out his hands in mock surprise.
"What? You aren't beating up the new campers?"

Estelle scowled. 'They're avoiding me like flu. And only in the arena.' She sighed deeply. 'All my opponents are dummies.' She pointed at a pile of which had once been dummies that had gotten torn violently. 'Now they are in that state.'

Jake frowned at the dummies that had been dismantled, disemboweled, and various other dis-scriptors. He'd probably have to fix that later... why'd he volunteer to help upkeep the arena again?

"I see. They just fell to pieces at their defeat." He said with a laugh. He grinned and tapped his pocket watch. "I suppose its up to me to defend their honor." He said melodramatically with a large grin.

Estelle laughed. It was a sound you didn't hear too often. 'Correct.' She said. 'But leave that job aside. I'm not sure if watching you mend dummies would be nice at all. Especially because it's like your enemies coming back to life.' She grinned.

Jake grinned. "Then you'll have to defeat me first!" He said dramatically, taking a generous step back and drawing his sword. The sword got caught in the sheath, and he had to grab the sheath and pull it out the rest of the way. He laughed and his grin turned a bit more sheepish. "Well that ruined a perfectly good moment."

'A perfectly good and dramatic moment,' Estelle said, grinning. 'I haven't had some practice for a while, so you might find me easy to beat.' she drew her own sword, keeping her knife inside the folds of her clothes. Good to have a secret weapon. She checked the darts in her pocket.

Jake scoffed. "How often do you see me in the arena?" He asked, he dropped back a couple steps to move into a more open area. He pulled out and activated his shield. He gave a sly grin. "But, since you're a girl and all, I can go easy on you." He said, making a wide gesture and raising his eyebrows in a daring fashion.

'No need to,' Estelle said, smiling. 'I'll handle it.' She held her stance and nodded. 'I give you the privilege to go first.'

"Oh really?" He said with a grin. "I never get to go first. I usually have to go up and take the first hit." Being the only person of their usual group with a shield and all, he normally took a defensive position. His chronic hero syndrome might be part of it as well, and the fact that both of his usual companions are girls... you know, chivalry.

Jake eased his way around Estelle, rolling his shoulders to loosen them a bit. After a few steps, he made a horizontal fent towards her, then threw his opposite shoulder forward instead, intending to give a hard slam with his shield. Chivalry only gets you so far in a fight, especially at a camp where just about every girl can kick your butt.

Estelle stepped aside, just barely missing the shield. 'I've gotten slow,' she muttered. She turned and made a bit of distance, circling him slowly. Like a cat. She ran up to his side and targeted behind the knees from the opposite side of his shield.

Jake brought down his sword to parry with the flat, turning on the inside foot as he did to face her. He shoved the sword aside and stepped back, then threw a forward lunge.

Estelle jumped back, avoiding the blade. She deflected the blow with her own sword and tried to clear her mind better. She sliced upwards.

Jake moved his shield so the blade scrapped harmlessly over the top of it. He took a swing coming diagonally down to the inside.

Estelle twisted her blade to deflect the sword. She felt her dagger pressing down on her skin. Thrusting her sword in his face as a distraction, she jabbed towards his sword arm with the hidden knife.

Naturally, a sharp, pointy object in his face took Jake's attention. He quickly leaned back and threw his shield up to deflect the blade. The thing is, when you deflect the sword in your face, you then have a shield in your face. That split-second blindness gave Estelle's second attack a chance.

Jake bit back a surprised yelp, and he instinctively jerked his arm back away from the pain. That, of course, made a simple stab into an rather impressive cut. He forced himself not to check it, and blocked out the pain. So, now there was a knife to keep track of. That made for a few more things to prepare for.

He hung back a few steps, giving a couple experimental slashes. He would try to keep a distance, using that to counteract the new weapon's limited range.

Estelle remained indifferent as the blade cut through skin. It wasn't a big injury, and he could get it healed in the infirmary. Some would overreact with the first cut, but she would keep herself in check. Estelle hung back too, wary. She tucked the knife back in, and gripped her sword with both hands.

Jake hung back and circled carefully. He was weighing the possibilities for his next action. Normally a bit of banter helped keep his nerves down and bought him a bit of time, both essential for thinking up a quick plan.
"Have you always had that on you, or is that a recent addition?" He asked with a sideways grin, voicing his initial surprise.

He kept his voice light, but his muscles tense and on alert.

Estelle switched her position into a defensive stance and smiled slightly. 'It's always been with me.' she said, watching him carefully. Jake was smarter than the Ares kids she fought. Good to be cautious.

Jake gave an amused scoff. "Huh. Remind me never to cut in front of you in the lunch line." He said, raising his brows a bit. He took a breath and decided his next move.
He rocked onto his toes and advanced, throwing a horizontal feint.

Estelle nodded once. She gripped both her weapons tightly, knife in one hand and sword in other. Her knife flashed to intercept the feint.

Before the two clashed, Jake pulled back his sword and shoved forward his shield instead. As he did, he redirected his sword behind his shield for a thrust at her. To finish the move, he tilted his shield upwards and slashed from underneath it.
