CQC training with Fred open to all

One thing Fred hadn't done was actually train.
Her skill were better suited to close quarter combat.
" Any wann want tae learn Talhoffer style?" She yelled out.

"And what could you teach, newb?" Jake shouted back, mostly irritated at someone yelling in the arena. He wasn't really paying attention to who was talking, and since he couldn't recognize the voice immediately, he assumed it was a newer camper.

Jake returned his attention to the spear in his hands, since he was inspecting the loaner weapons that were there. On the floor beside him was the beginning of a pile of broken or breaking weapons. This spear looked fine on the outside, but he could tell that a strong hit would make it break.
It was lucky for the camp that Agamemnon had been built as a trainer. That meant that Jake would be spending a lot more time maintaining the arena.

" Talhoffer style sword fighting." Fred announced. she was fairly knowledgeable on the subject.

"Wonderful." Jake said, his tone clearly indicating his opinion on the matter. "Because there's nothing wrong with the regular style..." He added under his breath. He tossed the spear in his hand beside him on top of the others. He pulled out, ironically enough, a fair sized long sword and inspected the blade.

" Talhoffer was the sword fighting innovator ah his era, " Fred announced.
" if you want i can go in to Ken-do, Pankration ur Ringen. if that's mare yer style." she finished.

"My style is keeping the simple moves I've got and making them work." Jake said, turning the sword in his hand. He never really bothered learning elaborate sword techniques. He preferred making his shield and contraptions to do the work for him.

" fair doos mate whit works, works.
but your a kid of Hephaestus dont yeh like inovation?" fred said plunking her self down on the ground.
" Tallhoffer is all about useing every part of a sword as a weapon useing every thing you have as a advantage. it's naw a fancy swingy swish swish style. its about what works.
for instance, you are atacked buy a bloke in full plate armour. all you have is a wee sword. whit dae yeh dae?" she asked hypotheticaly.

"I like messing with random parts. Not messing with a fighting strategy that works." Jake corrected. He listened to her question.
"Stab that 'bloke' in a kink or throw a rock at him." He answered without hesitation, turning the sword in his hand to look down the blade. It was rather dented.

" oh aye cause an enemy will stand there. then just lets yeah look him over tae find a wee kink in the armor." sne joked. " or yeh kin just flip her sword over and use it as a hammer." she said standing up.
" you want tae practice. or yeh just going tae moan aboot hoe learning new stuff is evil?" she joked.
" if something works then good. but that doesn't mean that it wont work every other time."

"You act like the sword's the only thing I have." Jake said, getting irritated. He looked at her over his shoulder. He didn't stay on that comment, nor did he point out the things he did have. He held up the damaged sword in his hands. "Does it look like I'm training? And I wouldn't train with someone who's been at camp four years less than I have." He said bluntly. He tossed the sword into the pile and pulled out another weapon.

" aye 'cause that's whit ahem talking aboot." she said . " so some one, any one CANT know any thing simply because that haven't been to this camp?. ani i always thought you were a smart bloke.i have studied the Fechtbuch something most people don't even think about.
if you want to argue that i don't know anything. then you arnt as smart as i thought." she snapped. she was well and truly sick of being judged buy others. this was what she was fearing.
"IF YOU JUST CAME HERE TO TAKE THE 小便 THEN JUST GO AWAY."
she yelled. beginning to fell relay embarrassed.

"Well, I'm not done. When I am, I'd be more than happy to be out of your way." Jake said. He put this weapon back because it was in good condition. He saw learning new techniques like these weapons. If it isn't broken, don't waste your time fixing it. If there's a crack in it, then fix it. If it doesn't exist, make it. He though about telling her that, but he decided against it. However, after a moment of the tense silence, without looking up from the next weapon, he said: "Just because I don't want to learn your special sword moves, doesn't mean I think you're stupid."

" GOOD 'CAUSE I'M NOT." she took a breath calming her self down.
" just because ah huvney been aroond here fur 4 years, dosny mean i don't know things. i studied this way before i even knew i was a demigod." she said.

Jake sighed. He pulled out the weapon he had just put back and held the short sword side by side with the broken on already out. He was going to pull out the metaphor anyway.
"The way I see it, techniques are like these swords." He started. He held up the one that was in good condition.
"This one is good. It will last many more sessions. If it isn't broken, don't fix it." He put the sword back and held up the one he had been inspecting.
"If it's broken, if it's about to break: fix it." He tossed it into the pile.
"If it doesn't exist yet, then make it. For me, my way of fighting doesn't require adding fancy sword moves: I use a shield." Jake held up his pocket watch. "Always. You don't add features to a sword just to look good, you add it to make it work better." He put away his watch and pulled out a spear.
"I'm done with my Kenobi speech."

" Never said yeh didny know anything. never even crossed ma mind. i just want to train." she said relaxing.
" thing is the way you said what you said sounded really insulting."
