Embarking on the Quest

"I second that."

"Alright. Hold on tight guys!!!!" Kris smirked and hit the brakes and then hit the X, taking a sharp turn onto an upcoming side road.

"Gah! You're having too much fun with this!"

"i agree, your mad woman..."

"Well i maybe mad but i am trying to save us." She glanced down at the gas meter. "Crap running on empty. We have about 10 seconds of drive time left."

"Keep driving." Jake ordered. He shifted his shield and pulled out his knife. He moved so he could jump out and engage if nessisary.

"throw it into coast right before we run out, see how long that lasts..."

"That won't work.... we aren't going down hill...." Kris listened as the engine started giving out

"just keep it in drive. If we can keep it together until after the fight i can get it to run."

"I have a better idea." She trew the car in neutral and let the car glide down the road. She led it off road and kept it moving as long as possible.

Jake leaned against the tailgate, ready to attack, while carefully balancing out the bumps.

"thats kinda what i ment by coast...i thought that'd be obvious..." Wes readied herself for battle, putting her left hand around her wrist.

As the car slowed down, the monster caught up. A huge sphynx, "yeah, some 'dog-thing' jakey..." Wes twisted the wrist bands as she hopped out, equipping her with her bow on her shoulder and her quiver strapped securly on her theigh. "you guys ready?"

"Meh, It's not attacking just yet." Jake yawned. "But if it trys something...."

"..." The monster swung a paw at Wes which she side stepped (im already out and ready jake....) "*now* ready?"

Kris hopped out of the truck but just fingered at her ring not yet spinning it.

(the way you posted it was *behind* us and catching up. You are further up front getting out. It would have to pass me first.)
Jake jumped down from his post on the truck and slammed his shield down on the sphinx. He gave it a quick slash and backed off to defend.

(no, i said it *caught* up) Wes shot an arrow in the shpinx's side as she backed up to get some distance.

(I know, but that's the way i understood it.)
"No worries, we'll be driving again in a moment." Jake said, boldly attacking the Sphinx with his knife after giving it a cocky twirl.

"I don't know how that is going to be possible when we are out of gas." Kris spun her ring and watched as a sword appeared in her hand.

"we'll cross that bridge later..." Wes shot arrows repeatidly at the sphinx.

Jake laughed, "I'll get it to work until the nearest gas station."
"So...what gives, a spinx with no riddle? I'm dissapointed."

(so, when's this going to be over."

"This one apparently" Wes giggled. She rolled out of the way of a puonce and came up shooting another. she quickly backs up more.

Jake tackled the sphinx and managed a stab under the ribs. The sphinx faded into dust.
He put away his knife and tossed his shield up all cool-like and it came down as his usual pocket watch which he caught by the chain.
"See, No problem." He said, grinning.

Wes deactivates her bow,"...so..."

"Truck." Jake said, answering her unspoken question. He glanced around at the sourroundings. There was nothing but farmland.
"Well. Time to push."
